What makes the Pawsitioner unique?

The pawsitioner was designed, engineered, and patented by a practicing veterinarian who, out of frustration, wanted to create a versatile tool which could free up technicians, help protect his staff from radiation, and make more efficient use of time and space in his clinic. It is the only veterinary positioner on the market which can provide both V-D and right and left lateral views without having to reposition the patient inside the positioner. The Pawsitoner has more limb restraints than any other positioner. Because of the numerous limb restraints and hook-and-loop anchors, many other radiographic options become easy such as OFA hip radiography and skull radiography.

Can unsedated or unanesthetized animals be placed in the Pawsitioner?

In most cases, this is possible, but we recommend some form of analgesic or sedative because many animals will become frightened and struggle when their limbs are immobilized.

Is any part of the Pawsitioner visible on the radiograph?

Although the material is virtually radiotransparent, it can be seen when the plane of the plastic is parallel to the x-ray beam. It is readily apparent on the film that it is not part of patient and does not interfere with viewing. Some of the straps may be possibly seen on digital radiographs, but they can be easily recognized as such or generally displaced to be out of the view.

What other applications are there for the Pawsitioner?

The Pawsitioner can be used to hold patients for ultrasonography, myelography, and even computerized tomography. It has the advantage of being able to passively restrain for these procedures while freeing up one technician.
